In 1956, in the attic of his family's home in LaGacilly, a small village in rural France, Yves Rocher created his first cream from a plant named Celandine. His pioneering spirit continued, as he became one of the first in Europe to ban cosmetic testing on animals. Yves Rocher was also one of the first to sell products by mail. Yves Rocher took the cosmetic market by surprise when he launched his line of beauty products, offering high quality, affordable cosmetics based on botanical ingredients.
